Over the course of a week, you will have the opportunity to cross the impressive Jebel Shams mountains, bathe in the turquoise waters of the wadis, surrender to nature during a night in the heart of the desert and experience Oman's incredible coastline.
You will also have the chance to explore authentic Omani towns such as Nizwa, Sur and Muscat, giving you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the culture and hospitality of this magnificent country.
This is an overview of your 7-day road trip through Oman. The itinerary takes you through some of the country’s most stunning locations. During the day, you’re free to choose which landmarks to visit and how long to stay at each. At night, we suggest our favorite camping spots, so you can fully experience the freedom of wild camping.
You’ll be crossing Oman in a Toyota Fortuner or a Nissan X-Terra, well-equipped 4x4s that can easily handle all kinds of roads.
The car is automatic with a manual mode option. It comes with a roof tent and all the necessary camping gear.
You’ll find more detailed information about the equipment and car insurance in the practical information section, but here are the dimensions of the roof tent and the double mattress (2.4m x 1.4m).
During your road trip, your car will be your home!
Every evening, you’ll park wherever you choose and wake up to a brand-new breathtaking view. One of Oman’s greatest perks is the freedom to camp almost anywhere. We’ll share our favourite wild camping spots, but you’re also free to pitch your rooftop tent wherever the adventure takes you.
Midway through your trip, you’ll have the option to swap the tent for a cozy hotel night in Nizwa, Oman’s former capital — the perfect chance to recharge in comfort.
And to wrap up your journey in style, you’ll spend your final night in a 4-star hotel in Muscat, complete with a rooftop pool, spa, and a real bed.
